Hi, my name is Lillian — my friends call me Lilli. I am a public affairs professional with a passion for multimedia storytelling and problem-solving.
Hoosier turned Tar Heel, I was born in the great state of Indiana and went to undergrad at UNC Chapel Hill where I studied multimedia journalism and French. Back then, when I wasn’t in class or at rowing practice, my personality was centered on finding beautiful places to hang my hammock and/or take pictures… who am I kidding, it still is.
After graduating from UNC with a handful of internships under my belt, I headed to Washington DC in an attempt to marry my passion for storytelling with my interest in policy. I ended up working on the lean-but-mean communications teams of think tanks that solve complex international security challenges. Working with experts in issues ranging from weapons trafficking to illicit fishing, I honed my skills in translating complex topics and data into engaging narratives that resonate with policymakers, news media, and diverse global audiences.
Over the years, I felt myself drawn to topics related to environmental security and sustainability, which eventually led me to pursue a Mater’s in Public Affairs / sustainability at Indiana University. Back home again in Indiana (iykyk), I got to explore topics such as environmental justice, energy & climate law, and sustainability at the #1 ranked MPA program in the country. To complement my degree, I also got to spend a summer in Beaverton, Oregon working on Nike’s Government & Public Affairs team, researching advanced recycling methods and their implications for sustainability policy around the world. As I enter the next stage in my career, I am considering how best to align my interests in storytelling, policy, and sustainability plus my experience working across sectors, to help fight climate change and make a positive impact on the world.
When I’m “off-duty,” you can find me wearing various hats — dog mom, gym junkie, amateur chef, wine enthusiast, avid hiker, and fantasy novel connoisseur.
